After eleven weeks of fierce competition the inaugural League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Split has reached its climax at the Finals in Rotterdam. While G2 Esports, Fnatic, and Origen prepare to see who will be triumphant on the Rift, the LEC has already had its fair share of success with record breaking viewership. In our Mid-Split viewership update, we announced a 50% growth in viewership across the Spring Split compared to last year. Today we're thrilled to announce that the trend has continued with over two million hours of LEC being watched live each week throughout the Spring Split and a record breaking concurrent viewership for a Week 9 - over 355,000 fans watched the show at the same time, smashing the previous Week 9 record set in 2015.
With the title of LEC Champions and the chance to represent Europe at MSI on the line, the stakes have never been higher. Make sure to tune in to watch.lolesports.com to see the crowning of the first ever LEC champions, or watch the action live at the Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam!
