New faces in the EU LCS Summer Split

Getting ready for the back half of the season, the European teams made several changes to their rosters. Let’s meet the new players.

Although nearly two months have passed since the first half of the season’s games concluded, most teams decided against experimenting. The most important changes to the starting lineups were made in two teams at the bottom of the table: Giants and FC Schalke 04. It’s worth remembering that their final scores at the end of the season were both 7:11, placing them second to last. Will these changes help them bounce back? We’ll find out on June 15th, when the second half of the season launches!

A new support player will man the bottom lane. Risto “SirNukesAlot” Luuri is going to join the roster. He made appearances in the EU Challenger Series and the 2018 ESL Meisterschaft.

The Giants also hired a new coach. The team will now be led by Kublai “Kubz” Barlas, with the previous head coach, Ramón “Naruterador” Meseguer, now focusing on the strategic aspects of the team’s game.

FC Schalke 04

Milo “Pride” Wehnes lost his spot as the team’s jungler. Who was going to replace him, however, remained uncertain. It turns out Schalke’s new woodsman will be none other than Maurice “Amazing” Stückenschneider, known for playing for Team Solo Mid, Origen and Fnatic, returning to the EU LCS after a short adventure with casting the games from the studio.

The marksman position now belongs to “Attila”. Wait, what? Chill! It’s just Amadeu Carvalho getting bored of his nickname “Minitroupax”. Let’s see if the new call sign contributes to some revitalizing victories.
