Today Riot Games UK and our partner LVP are delighted to unveil the UK League Championship, the official regional League of Legends competition for the UK!
The UKLC season begins on Wednesday, February 13th, at 18.00 GMT. Regular season play will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays for seven weeks and all the action will be broadcast on LVP UK’s Twitch channel.
The top four teams at the end of the regular season will move forward to playoffs, and the Grand Final will take place on March 31st. The team who wins will be crowned UK League Champion and go on to compete in the EU Masters!
Nine teams have been selected to compete in the UKLC following a rigorous selection process, including a couple that may be familiar to LEC audiences...
The UKLC is built around a format we’re calling ‘the tower’. Every week eight teams will compete in a knockout tournament to clamber above their rivals and challenge the previous week’s tower champion. The winner takes a bunch of championship points, that week’s bragging rights, and the right to defend their position the following week. Only teams that control the tower will dominate the UK League Championship.
The inaugural UKLC season is formed of two splits, which will each feature regular season play, followed by the return of our open tournament Forge of Champions, and a Promotion tournament.
The UKLC will also feature expert analysis and commentary from homegrown British talent in Ciernan “Excoundrel” Lowe, Dan “Aux” Harrison and Jake “Hiprain” Matthews.
