Summer Split 2018 MVP Awards

The 2018 EU LCS Spring Split awards are finally here! We’ll be kicking off by announcing the ALL-PRO team on August 31.

We only have one week left of the EU LCS Split and the teams are in the final stages of their race to Worlds! Soon, we’ll find out which teams will be fighting for the pride of Europe on the world’s biggest stage in Korea. After impressive performances at MSI and Rift Rivals, perhaps this is the year for an EU win!

Before we dive into the details, we need to talk about the Rookie of the Split. This Split, we have had only a few roster changes in the EU LCS. Due to the sparsity of new players, there will not be a Rookie of the Split award for Summer 2018. If a total of three rookies have played three or more games by Week 9, we will reinstate the award.

Here’s a quick recap of the EU LCS Summer awards and when you’ll find out who has won:

EU ALL-LCS TEAM: August 31

COACH: August 31

MVP: September 8 during the Finals in Madrid!

WHEN DOES VOTING TAKE PLACE?

Voting takes place as the regular season draws to a close between August 13 and August 18 during Week 9, the final week of the Summer Split.

WHO VOTES?

Similar to last Split, awards will be voted on by the EU LCS English broadcast team, regional language broadcast teams, third party media, and pro teams. The full voting panel will be shared after each award is announced.

It’s important to note that the Twitter voting for “Player of the Game” does not count towards our MVP voting. As we do not do it for every game, it would give some players an unfair advantage!

WHAT DEFINES MVP?

The MVP, or “Most Valuable Player”, is the player deemed to have had the most impact for his team throughout the Split. Ask yourself the question: “If I took this player out of their team and replaced him with someone else, would the team suffer?” If the answer is yes, then you’re looking at an MVP candidate.

WHEN WILL BALLOTS AND THE FULL AWARDS PANEL BECOME AVAILABLE?

After each award is announced, panelist ballots will be released as part of the each article on Lolesports.

All panelists who agreed to participate but fail to submit votes (i.e. leave something blank) will be listed as “declined to vote.” Pros and coaches who vote incorrectly (i.e. vote for their own players) will be listed as “invalid” and those votes will not count toward the total for that category.

WHO WOULD YOU VOTE FOR?

If you were given a ballot for EU LCS awards, who would you vote for All-LCS Team, Coach, Rookie, and MVP? Leave a comment below or join the discussion on Twitter.

Don’t forget to check back on August 31 to see if your choices match the winners of the All-LCS Team.
