With the first ever regular split of the LEC drawn to a close, and with our 6 top teams gearing up to fight through playoffs, we’re ready to announce the best players that have taken to the rift this split. Throughout this split, we’ve seen rookies rise, and old favourites fall by the wayside. From Nemesis to Nukeduck, from Crownshot to Rekkles, Europe continues to prove that we have the deepest player pool in the world. Now, experts in the LEC have cast their votes for who they think is the best in Europe.
We asked the teams, casters, and journalists who they thought reached the very top of their game this split and here are the results.
IN FIRST PLACE:
LUCAS “CABOCHARD” SIMON-MESLET - TOP, TEAM VITALITY - 104 POINTS
MARCIN “JANKOS” JANKOWSKI - JUNGLE, G2 ESPORTS - 82 POINTS
RASMUS “CAPS” WINTHER - MID, G2 ESPORTS - 125 POINTS
KASPER “KOBBE” KOBBERUP - ADC, SPLYCE - 80 POINTS
MIHAEL “MIKYX” MEHLE - SUPPORT, G2 ESPORTS - 112 POINTS
"This split's all-pro team was pretty clear cut to me. Starting in the top lane, Cabochard was a dominant force throughout the split and the single most important piece to Vitality's regular season successes. In the jungle, Jankos has been a constantly aggressive force for G2, leading to many impressive early game snowballs. Caps is.... well he's Caps. For ADC, Kobbe really stepped up for Splyce. There was no ADC as consistent or as good as Kobbe was throughout the season. Lastly, Mikyx is the obvious choice for support. He manages to be a huge playmaker for G2 both in lane, getting 2v2 kills and engaging game-ending teamfights. These are our best players in the league and are all fighting for the chance to lift the first LEC trophy in Rotterdam."
IN SECOND PLACE:
MARTIN “WUNDER” HANSEN- TOP, G2 ESPORTS - 94 POINTS
OSKAR “SELFMADE” BODEREK - JUNGLE, SK GAMING - 74 POINTS
ERLEND “NUKEDUCK” VÅTEVIK HOLM - MID, ORIGEN - 77 POINTS
ELIAS “UPSET” LIPP - ADC, SCHALKE 04 - 59 POINTS
ZDRAVETS “HYLISSANG” ILIEV GALABOV- SUPPORT, FNATIC - 52 POINTS
"The second place all-pro team is an incredible combination of individual talent. Upset making this list despite Schalke’s abysmal second half is a testament to his individual prowess and pairing him with Hylissang feels like a perfect fit in the absence of Ignar. Wunder and Nukeduck are two of the strongest players in Europe, there placement here only further confirms their team’s place in the standings. The real surprise is Selfmade, we rarely see a rookie jungler be so crucial to a team's success. But Selfmade was the exception consistently impacting the early game for SK across the split. "
IN THIRD PLACE:
BARNEY “ALPHARI” MORRIS - TOP, ORIGEN - 25 POINTS
MADS “BROXAH” BROCK-PEDERSEN - JUNGLE, FNATIC - 31 POINTS
DANIELE “JIIZUKE” DI MAURO- MID, VITALITY - 39 POINTS
MARTIN “REKKLES” LARSSON - ADC, FNATIC - 49 POINTS
ALFONSO “MITHY” AGUIRRE RODRÍGUEZ - SUPPORT, ORIGEN- 36 POINTS
"To many the 3rd place all-pro team will be full of surprises. Each of these names has stood at the top of their field in the past, but have been surpassed this split. Rekkles and Broxah took a while to get going on Fnatic, Mithy struggled initially and then managed to rid himself of his NA woes, Alphari and Jiizuke continue to perform well, but not quite well enough to challenge at the top. In playoffs, all of these players will be looking to prove they are worth more than 3rd place. ."
It’s not surprising that G2 have locked 4 of their players into the top teams, with only Perkz missing out on a spot. However, people may be shocked to see Upset in second place, considering how poorly Schalke performed in the second half of the split. Overall, all of our top 6 teams are represented at least once in our All-pro teams, and I think we can all agree, it’s likely we’ll have the most competitive playoffs yet.
