As the Split draws to a close, so too do our inaugural ‘Fan Favourites’ awards. Thank you to everybody who took part and voted for your favourite plays, players and moments in the EU LCS this year. Without further ado, let’s see which moments rose to the top.

Meme of the Split

Firstly, the Meme of the Split! After an intense competition, there can only be one winner. ‘Year of the Duck’ strode forth to success and who could have ever doubted it? Originally championed by our very own Deficio, the Year of the Duck has finally come into full force. Can Nukeduck take Schalke 04 all the way to the title and glory? Only time will tell.

Game Changer

Secondly, the Game Changer award. From laying down the hammer to totally transforming a team’s fortunes, our four candidates each laid their claim on the illustrious award. There can only be one winner, though, and Kikis took the prize. With over 50% of the vote, it was clear that Kikis has totally changed Team Vitality. Winning 9 out of his first 10 games with the team, it’s clear why Kikis is your fan favourite.

Fan Favourite

Our final, and most prestigious, award remains. The Fan Favourite is the player that fans have connected with, someone they think truly exemplifies the best of EU LCS. The competition was fierce, but one name stood out above the rest: Caps. The middle man for Fnatic continues to excel and shine as possibly the best mid laner ever to play in Europe. His eyes are on the title, and his next stop is Worlds.

Most Outstanding Rookie of the EU LCS

This year, we had one player that changed the landscape of the league: Bwipo. As part of the team that won EU LCS in Spring, challenged greats at MSI, and came back to top the table in Summer, this player really stood out as a great of his generation.

Unfortunately, he also was betrayed by his good fortune. During the Spring Split, he was ineligible for Rookie of the Split, as he only played two games during the regular season. His continued performance on the European and international stage meant that, as we came into Summer, he had become ineligible for Rookie of the Split. Due to this misfortune, we have decided to create a one-of-a-kind award for Bwipo. He has been an exemplary player in our league and truly deserves the title, Most Outstanding Rookie of the EU LCS.
